good sabbath

today was such an amazing sunday for me. little bro gave his farewell talk today in sacrament meeting. that kid has grown up so much since receiving his mission call. he spoke about finding joy in the journey which was a really appropriate subject for him. he is always laughing and joking around! his talk had so much of him infused into it, applying his favorite movie quotes and principles that had been taught to him by people that impressed him such as my grandpa, grandma and seminary teachers. it was general conference good! except for his thanking moment at the end that resembled an oscar acceptance speech, but that's marc for you ;) i'm so impressed with his testimony of the gospel and know he will be a great missionary and touch the lives of many. it was kind of funny, but during his talk i could swear i heard christian's voice in his at times. he sounded like a real missionary. the combination of speakers and music today really helped me to feel the spirit strongly. it was so nice to be surrounded by family and friends and to feel of God's love today. i imagine that is a little bit of what heaven feels like.

hey all. back from my blogging hiatus and it was glorious! i have taken some time since i graduated to find out what it means to really relax and enjoy moments with family. here is a chronicle of our december in no particular order:

1. i used my lovely anniversary present to get a massage, facial and pedicure. that was heavenly and i think i might need more excuses to visit the spa!

2. we went to scott's work party where he won this little beauty... now our lives are filled with apps and angry birds.

3. i graduated!

4. we attended the annual deyoung christmas party and saw some cute reindeer sing, did a piano duet, ate yummy food and sat on santa's lap. (p.s. my sarah salad was successful unlike many of my kitchen attempts.)

5. we talked to this adorable boy via skype. he is healthy, happy and almost home!

6. we played with the bostwicks and took home a sweet prize from the auction... a babycakes maker. needless to say, we have an overabundance of mini cupcakes at our house.

7. i've completed two books in two weeks that had previously taken me over six months to get through the first 50 pages. it's wonderful the focus you can have when not in school!

8. i submitted my nurse practitioner application to the university of utah. it is officially out of my hands!

9. scott is heading up two different jobs for his company: one in lehi and another in pleasant view. go him! pleasant view days are my favorite because he's home at 5:30 every night :)

10. we have also made some new years resolutions for 2012 that may prove challenging (at least for me).
- pay off the truck
          - remodel the bathroom
          - cut out soda completely
          - eat healthier and at home more often
          - by completing the above two mentioned, participating in a mountain
            bike relay this summer
          - make more time for each other

picking up my cap and gown today! i'm excited even though i'm wearing an "apricot" colored tassel (who comes up with these?) i want to thank everyone that has helped me on the way to earning my degree. i appreciate all your love, support and advice.

i'm attending an honors banquet tonight where each participant is supposed to take a few minutes to talk about what their education means to them. i'm nervous but glad to have this opportunity. weber state is the greatest school i could have ever attended. sure it gets a bad rap for being a commuter school and fairly small compared to other utah universities. but i'm proud to be an alumna of the wildcats! the nursing program has made the transition from school to work very seamless. i feel prepared to meet the demands of my career because of the hands-on education i received. where graduates are having hard times securing positions after school, i feel very lucky to have been trained by such an awesome faculty and to have a job. so i guess that's what my education means to me.

it will be much more polished tonight i hope. haha. have a wonderful wednesday!

so i started using pinterest one week ago. at first i was thinking "cool, but i have no idea what the point is." now i'm thinking "gaaaahhh, why have i been sucked into this pop culture phenomenon?!" i think i have spent 1/4 of my day looking at random pictures and crafts that i have no intention of completing anytime soon. but it's still cute. i did find one halloween decoration that i can complete in one day. here it is folks:

i've printed these lovelies off on semi-gloss paper and am going to make a trip to the DI for some frames that could use a little tlc. yay for semi-crafty me!

having two "doctors" appointments today is interesting. for the record, i just want to say how much i love seeing two awesome nurse practitioners rather than doctors. hopefully someday when i have those two letters behind my name, my patients will share that same enthusiasm. thanks for all the great care you give, leanne and karen!

so we celebrated scott's 26th birthday this weekend. i asked him what he wanted to do for his special day thinking i would hear about a party with some cake and friends and family. instead i heard "how about a work party?" at first i thought he meant to invite people he works with (which would be interesting...) but i soon found out that he wanted to have everyone come over to work on our sprinklers and landscaping and be rewarded with pizza, breadsticks and gatorade. lovely. so our family, being the awesome and selfless people they are, came over bright and early saturday morning to help us dig trenches, lay pipe, and make our yard look immaculate. we did have some birthday-ish things like cake and ice cream. nephews kept asking where the pinata was... apparently i missed the memo. all in all, it was a very successful day with lots of hard work. thank you all for your help and kindness! we hope to have laid sod by this saturday and we promise to have a yard party when it's complete to reward you better. scott told me last night that this was the best birthday ever. what an easy to please stud. love him and wish him an even better year than the last!

3. this school business is getting a little old and i dunno if i can make it through a graduate program. there is a small part of me that hopes i don't get accepted so i can have a break.

4. the baby hungry monster has returned. looks like we need another dog.

5. as of october 9, we will have been married for two years. what am i doing on my anniversary, you ask? attending a chemotherapy conference in salt lake the whole weekend. boo.

6. i have yet to get dressed today. yippee pajamas!

7. it is so BEA-utiful outside and it makes me want pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.

back from our trip at the beach. for the record, if ever given a chance to move to seaside, oregon, i would snatch it up! this vacation was much needed for the great r&r opportunity. now we're home and trying to get back into a routine of some sort. i'm glad to have my little (well big really) cleo back. i swear every dog i saw on the trip tried to comfort me because i missed her so much. haha. scott went back to work today and i have a gigantic mound of laundry to do at some point. school starts next week so i guess if no routine starts this week, i'll for sure have one by then! oh and i have to check off my last summer to-do: lagoon!

today is a day of favorites. hair cut and color. cousin and good friend are getting married. leaving for a week long vacation. purely awesome. more updates on the trip later. i'll be relaxing in a beach house just a ways from seattle in the puget sound district. fresh seafood, cool temps, ferry rides, biking with the hubs, and having brunch at the space needle. so excited!

it's funny how in life you make decisions and feel so firm in them. then the rug gets pulled up from underneath you! after talking with some coworkers that have gone through similar experiences I have, I've decided that maybe pa school may not be the only option for me. i had been planning on continuing my education since the beginning of this year. i just didn't know what avenue to take. nurse practitioners are now required to achieve a doctorate level degree which i thought was a little much for me. however, after talking with these amazing women i work with, i'm convinced that np school might be better suited for me. i will apply for both programs but secretly hope that the np program wants me more :) for those of you still with me, thanks for listening to my ramblings. sometimes putting things into words provides more clarity and understanding. i also appreciate those people who have encouraged me to go for my dreams. your words of advice and confidence have helped in so many ways. to my wonderful hubs, scott for his love, patience, and support. couldn't do any of this without you.

i'm now on the float pool at ogden regional. after much deliberation from the higher ups, i finally made it. i'll now be hopping from unit to unit and being exposed to all kinds of crazy things. hopefully i'll be able to keep up with the fast pace of learning and just have a dang good time!

other good news. got a second job at the university hospital. it's a ways of a commute, but the compensation just can't be beat. i'll be floating there too from the patient floors to the clinics and the huntsman cancer institute. soooo excited!

lastly, i've been throwing around several big decisions lately about where me and scott's lives are going. after a lot of thinking, i've decided to apply to pa school at the university of utah. it's a full-time, year-round program for two and a half years. sounds pretty rigorous, but i know that if i don't continue my education i'll be kicking myself later. i'll find out this winter if i made it in. i could use lots of good vibes my way if you please...

oh man, my blogging skills have seriously been lacking lately. so without further ado, the infamous update!

1. we celebrated my 22nd birthday on june 21. yes my birthday is the coolest and longest day of the year. summer solstice! unfortunately i spent it at the doctor's office after a work injury the day before. scott made up for it by making me cheesecake (from scratch, people) and taking me and the fam to taggarts. yum :)

2. we took the boat for the first time this year. the lake of choice is in glendale, just north of preston. we managed to fit the whole gang on the boat at the same time! that's 6 adults, 5 kids and a dog just so you can visualize. cleo even got in the water... for 3 seconds.

3. we finished our master bedroom. i would post a picture but it's pretty messy right now. maybe later the cleaning fairy will come. it's so nice to have at least one room completely finished so there is a sanctuary from shag carpet and 70s wallpaper.

4. my garden is in full bloom and i'm loving it! so many butterflies and purty colors... can't wait until all the shrubs are mature.

5. the fourth of july was pretty relaxing (due to the fact that i had worked the last three days straight). we had a blast at my aunt's house swimming in sojo. thanks bakers! later that night we headed to the usu extension garden to watch the hot rockin' 4th fireworks. this was the coolest fourth of july ever because utah legalized aerial fireworks! so awesome to drive at night and see them all going off.

indian fry bread

1 cup milk
1 Tbs. oil
1 Tbs. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
enough flour for a soft dough

mix dry ingredients, then add milk and oil. mix well. let dough sit at room temperature for an hour to tenderize the bread. flour hands and bread board. make dough balls with your hands and roll out with a rolling pin until flat. fry in hot oil until golden brown on each side.

we just had navajo tacos for dinner. we topped ours with chili, cheese, lettuce and ranch but anything is good on a hunk of fried dough. best part, you already have scones for dessert!

just kidding, i didn't jazzercise. but i am turning a new leaf over when it comes to diet and exercise. i've never really watched what i ate or even exercised much for that matter. nowadays, the old metabolism is slowing down and i'm noticing a little bit. so i am officially keeping track of what i eat and trying to incorporate more fruits and veggies in my diet. i'm also attending fitness classes at weber state at least three times a week. i've been to a strength and tone class yesterday (which kicked my butt by the way) and pilates this morning. man do i feel rejuvenated and sore! love it. since i have a goal in sight i think i'll do much better this time around. maybe i'll reward myself every 5 lbs or so. it's up to you blog readers to keep me accountable!

without fail, the week after finals i get sick. funny enough this year, the week after finals came and went without any ailments leading me to think that i was home free! i was even mentioning this to scott last week about how i had broken the cycle. i think mother nature heard me bragging... i have officially succumbed to the post post-finals sickness as of today. wonder if this will be a recurring thing even after the days of school are long gone... as for now, the couch, my blanket, netflix and powerade are my best friends :)

for the past few months, the hubs and i have been experiencing some job dissatisfaction. his boss works him to the bone with no potential of promotion and construction sites sound like one up from that special place where liars go. so that's his dilemma. mine is really not as bad (but i make a bigger deal about it). i've been in the same area of the hospital since i started there in 2008. i love the people i work with, but the types of patients i see are really starting to not be my thing. i've taken so many education credits to make myself more valuable to the more critical care areas, but with no success. so that leaves me searching for other options. needless to say, the both of us have been updating resumes and shuffling application papers around. today scott got a call from one of these jobs for an interview and i'm so excited for him! i had a little bit of luck myself and got called for an interview for an education position at the local technology college. it went pretty well and sounds like pretty slick gig. so send your internet luck vibes towards us and keep your fingers crossed!

as of today, i am a new participant of bountiful baskets. i never had participated before because i thought we never could go through that much produce. luckily, i get to split the goods with my mom. today we scored a pineapple, yummy honey mangoes, fresh green beans, turnips, spinach, and much more! now i just have to figure out what to do with it all. I'm thinking some mango salsa is in order, as well as turnip fries and spinach manicotti (not in the same meal of course). anyone else have any suggestions for this stuff?

it's january again and i must admit, i've turned into a reality tv monster yet again. no, not all reality tv. just one show. i am a bachelor fiend. since scott and i don't have tv, i catch up on episodes via the internet. to be frank, not a whole lot gets done on "bachelor days".

this season i am appalled by michelle money, the contestant from utah. because she acts so crazy and says the most rude things, she is giving every viewer out there the impression that "utahns are crazy". for those of you that watch the bachelor, i personally think she gave herself that black eye.

on a brighter side, i am completely girl smitten over shawntel, the quirky funeral director. she is naturally pretty and seems to be the smartest girl i have ever seen on the show to date. i hope she wins. okay, i think that's enough for today but if anyone else watches the bachelor, give me a shout out!

so this morning with all this snow outside my window, i got a little twinge of the winter blues. i'm not an exceptional skier or snowboarder like scooter and i really don't think snowball fights or sledding is very much fun. i'm very much a warm blooded person. i am the hoodie queen. hot chocolate and herb teas are my favorite beverages. if i don't have a blanket and cozy socks on my feet, it is a cold day you know where. so since i am at the disadvantage of having no vitamin d, i made myself some vitamin c. orange julius, you have cured me for today. thank you, thank you.

on the way home from our trip, we decided to add a new baby girl to the family! don't worry, it's just a dog, mom :) after much deliberation on names, we decided to go with cleopatra, cleo for short. we've only had her for a few days but it already looks like she's grown so much! she is a great dane and will probably be pretty big like her dad. she is such a sweetheart and has fit so well into our lives. currently we are potty and crate training. many sleepless nights have occurred, but it will all be worth it in the end.

many people have asked me if i was going to cancel my cruise because of the carnival fiasco last week. here are my list of reasons why i still will be traveling via carnival:
1. i can't get my money back now even if i wanted to.
2. that fire was pretty much a freak accident and is very unlikely to happen again.
3. i wouldn't mind eating sandwiches and getting a free cruise if it did happen again.
4. i'm just too excited to back out now from my first international venture!

after much debate and research, the bostwick fam has decided to add a special friend to the family. they love lounging anywhere they are allowed to. they are notorious "leaners". they can grow to be over six feet tall and weigh 160 pounds. they look intimidating but really just are big lovers. last clue of all, they have been eternally immortalized in children's cartoons. drumroll please... the newest addition is a great dane! we have been looking at a few puppies in the area. so far we haven't found the perfect match, but it'll come. i'm just glad we could finally agree on a breed!

doggie dilemma

we are officially dog hungry again. i think it's been there all along but comes and goes in spurts. yesterday i couldn't help but think how perfect it would be to be sitting on the couch with husband and little puppy. only problem is... we can't agree on a breed! everything i pick is too sissy for scott and everything he picks would definitely squoosh me on the couch. any thoughts from the readers?

it seems like just yesterday that we walked out of the logan, utah temple as husband and wife. i remember being so ethereally happy as he opened the door for me while holding my train, took my hand, and guided me down the walkway. despite the handshakes, hugs, cameras flashing, and directions from the photographer, i really only saw my new husband and how much love i felt for that man. this love has only grown, which i never thought possible after that day. he has seen me through good times and bad, taken care of me through sick days, and works so diligently to provide for our needs. how lucky am i to have gotten a ten cow man. happy first anniversary, my dear best friend.

happy 25th birthday to scott! the day's festivities began with his favorite breakfast of french toast, scrambled eggs, and sausage. yum! we fit in a little yard work too, taking four trips to the green waste and two trips to valley nursery to pick up our plants and flowers for our landscape renovation. he was so great helping me pick up such cool shrubs and trees. made the cake myself with only a few mishaps :) and to end the night, we had family over for cake and ice cream. the spoils for the evening included: new motocross boots and a set of camping chairs. i'm so glad we're together and hope he had a fun day!

so i got my passport in the mail today. one step closer to our vacación impresionante! i'm so excited to just be able to lay on a deck chair without worrying about online discussions or reading hundreds of pages from books i can't choose... viva la mexico!

today i feel inspired to thank all of my sweet friends i have. some of them might not even know how much i appreciate their kind words, hugs, and pushes in the right direction. so here we go:

1. my eternal friend, scott

this first year of marriage has been a whirlwind. but the one thing i was always grateful for was the stability that scott provides. it was never hard adjusting to him. he is always there with an encouraging word, challenging me to achieve things i never thought possible. he's my perfect fit, even though we are almost complete opposites.

2. my friend away from home, pam

pam has been my constant friend since middle school. she's currently serving a mission in california. even though we don't communicate a lot right now, i know we'll be able to pick right back up where we left off. she was with me through each dramatic situation of my high school years, ready with a ben and jerry's half baked ice cream in one hand and a "girl movie" in the other. pam's a great listener and adviser so i know she's doing great serving the people of california.

3. my superwoman of a mom, susan

i never thought i'd see the day where my mom would be my friend. lo and behold, she has been my lifesaver since my marriage. always willing to let me come over and hang out when scott's out of town. she makes me hot meals every sunday and is just a phone call away when i'm having cooking dilemmas (these happen quite often). most of all i appreciate her support. even through the horrors of my teenage years, she always would say how proud of me she was. my mom is the most selfless woman i know.

4. my nursing buddy, amber

amber was with me through the toughest two years of my life: nursing school. it all started when we were placed in the same group for a project and the balls been rolling ever since. amber is always there when i need to vent about work or school and always has great advice. she is such a strong woman that inspires me to be better. i'm so glad that she's overcome so many obstacles in her life so that she knows exactly what i need to hear. she's currently pregnant and i'm having so much fun "taking care of her" when her husband's at work. so excited to be auntie meg!

5. my "sister" at work, meghann

meghann is my friend i miss the most at work! we used to work the same shift and she was constantly giving me laughs to keep me going in stressful situations. now she's a nurse and works the opposite shift as me, so when i see her at 5am i try to be as awake as possible to talk with her! she is so fun to be around and makes it easier to do the hard job we both have. apparently i need to get a picture of the two of us!

6. my empathy friend, janessa

i was so lucky to be assigned to janessa for visiting teaching in my ward. i was a pretty negligent visitor at first but once i got into the groove of things, we have so much fun! she is currently going through the nursing program at WSU so it's kind of fun to impart some of my tips to someone else. we have a lot in common and sometimes i end up staying for an hour at her house because we just get talking! i'm excited that i got to know her better and hope to learn even more new things about her.

i have a lot more great friends in my life but it would take an entire day to blog about all of you wonderful people! i appreciate everything about friends and know that they are put on this earth for a special reason: to make our lives easier and happier.

i'm a little sad because now i can no longer read what i want to read. i read what the syllabus tells me to read. sad sad day. how come i can read hundreds of pages in a good book, but i can't even manage 20 pages in my physical assessment book? somehow the math doesn't compute. but hey on the fun side, at least goodreads.com lets me put my textbooks on my "currently reading" bookshelf.

mmmm... banana bread

thanks to me overbuying on bananas, i had only one option for the brown bananas sitting on my counter: attempt making some banana bread. i found a recipe that sounded really yummy (and easy) and voila! something way good that was made from scratch. this recipe actually calls for yogurt so it's extra moist... and my kitchen now smells amazing!

today me and scott made a goal to go to the temple for our ward's night. we were successful! i was so glad we were able to go together. it seems like with how busy our lives are, we weren't really able to go together at the same time. when we were walking out of the temple tonight, i felt like our bond as husband and wife was stronger. i'm so grateful for the man that scott is and for all that he puts up with from me :) he is my one true love and i'm so excited to spend the rest of my life and beyond with him.

i'm in middle school... again.

today i started the bsn program at weber state. not that i'm not going to learn a lot, but i kind of want to just get this portion of schooling over with. it's comparable to middle school. middle school was awful. you were having trouble finding yourself and you were in an awkward middle stage. anyways that was my experience. i'm having those kinds of feelings as i finish my first day. there is no pay increase for having your bachelor's degree in nursing (not that i'm in it for money, but i would like to be compensated for this extra work) but every graduate school requires that you have it. hopefully none of my bsn profs read my blog :) i just feel like a pimply metal mouth all over again! but as soon as i don that lovely purple cap and gown again and they hand me my fancy diploma cover, i'm applying for the nurse anesthetist program at midwestern university in arizona. i may not get in the first time, but that's where my passion lies. the human body intrigues me and i want to learn all about it and the effects of anesthesia. but for now i'll just have to find some good acne cream and stick through these next 2 years!

lonely days and mudholes

hello everyone. so for the past week, dear husband scott has been out of town for work. i'm very grateful he has a good job, but sheesh this living alone thing really is hard! i posted something to that extent on facebook and one friend of mine said that this means if crap doesn't get done there's no one else to blame. my SIL told me that's what we need kids for. haha. kids?! i just want a puppy :)
so as a result, my house is spotless (so all family who has not yet seen my house should feel free to come now). i'm all caught up on laundry and dishes for once in my life. i've watched more lost and house than i ever have in my life. normally if this happened i would just pick up extra shifts at work to bide my time, but work is trying to cut down everyone's hours to save money. grrr. i'm just excited for scott to get home so we can get away to the fam cabin this weekend for some r&r.

on a different note, we have pulled out all the grass in our yard and graded the yummy dirt. the rosebushes and dwarf pines got pulled out so it looks like a wasteland. hopefully not for long. we just need to place new sprinkler pipe and hydroseed. i'm so excited to have green grass... here's some before and after pics:

since i've taken a daytime position about a month ago, i've made the interesting transition from a to a night owl to a morning glory. i can't believe how much more productive my life is. take this morning for example: hubby got up at 5:50am. amazingly i was also awake and able to crawl out of bed. i sat with him while he ate breakfast and we had some quality conversation. after he left for work, i did two loads of laundry, washed a mondo pile of dishes that had been piling up for a week, folded clothes, deadheaded my plants, payed bills, read a chapter of my book, and tidied up the front room. note that this was all done before nine am. this may not seem like a big deal to some, but i remember working nights. i didn't accomplish one thing. my life was devoted to sleep. i am so grateful for this positive change. hopefully i can stick with the cleaning/organizing routine rather than cave in for a few more hours of sleep :)

everybody's fine eventually

to sum it up quickly... work yesterday was not a piece of cake. trying to fix several sick people at the same time requires more insight and strength than i have somedays. needless to say, i was not in the greatest mood after the work day finished. luckily i have an intuitive husband that knows how to fix everything with his caring way. we had a long discussion about how at work you give it your all, and when it's over, you must walk away knowing that you did your best. if the outcome is not the ideal situation, that is how it was meant to be. healthcare providers are humans too, imperfect people striving for perfect outcomes. this helped a little, but i was still feeling bad for not being able to do better. so after indulging me with some of my favorite food, scott popped in our newest netflix dvd to watch together. the movie is "everybody's fine". it's quite a thought-provoking film. the main character is robert de niro, a father who has recently lost his wife and is battling a life without her keeping his children, who are spread across the country, together. i won't tell much more about it in case any of you want to rent it (which i recommend), but there is a scene where robert de niro is hospitalized that is very heart-wrenching. as we were watching this, scott leaned over and whispered "that is why you need to be so caring to do what you do". i was very touched. lesson learned today: even though you may be troubled and imperfect, eventually everybody's fine.

last wednesday we loaded up the car with 2 suitcases, a backpack, and a missionary. that's right... the day had come for the mtc "drop-off". it was an interesting car drive to provo because we listened to a mo-tab cd (thanks aunt jana!), making it feel like more of a sunday drive. christian seemed a combination of nervous and excited as we all made small talk, kind of avoiding the mtc topic. we stopped in salt lake for christian's "last supper" at hire's where we were all treated to a delicious big h and frosty rootbeer mug. good choice, elder deyoung! when the family arrived in provo, we all got out of the car and took some pictures in front of the temple. the moment began to set in as we loaded back into the car and drove to the "drop-off" zone. there are 25 stations, each containing a pair of elders. we were assigned station number 8. the car slowly pulled up to our location and we all got out to say goodbye. i was shaking as i gave my brother one more hug to last him the next two years. the waterworks were flowing and it felt like a fresh band-aid being pulled off as one elder took the luggage and the other took christian. as we drove out of the mtc, each elder at various stations were waving and smiling at us. we all knew christian was in the right spot, even if it did hurt a little bit. i am so proud of his decision to serve a mission and i know he is very prepared to touch the hearts of the people of mexico.

last tuesday, i took my state boards for my rn license. got out of the test feeling a little nervous. i appreciated all the support from my family and friends convincing me that i had done fine and i didn't have anything to worry about. i checked the licensing website pretty much every hour only to find that nothing new had been posted. so wednesday night, me and scooter were putzing around on netflix when i got a text message from the awesome meghann. she told me to check the license website again. lo and behold, there is my name with two awesome letters behind it... rn. so i am now able to push iv medications and take short stay procedures at work without having another person do it for me! it is such great news :) scooter is so supportive and way excited to be having a real live sugar momma. hee hee.

it's been too long

it's about time we posted something new! well, we got married (yippee!), struggled with our share of loan quandries, became mac lovers, closed on our house, cleaned until our arms hurt and then some, and moved our stuff inside. whew. we're so excited to be in our home! scooter is working on hooking up our washer, dryer, and stove (it's all gas powered). i'm working on finding places for everything. we both decorated for christmas too! so fun. stop by and see us and our house baby sometime.

yesterday i got my wisdom teeth out. luckily there were only two on the top, but none would have been better. my daily schedule has been as follows:

1. wake up and take an array of medication
2. hurry and slurp down some kind of liquid because i forgot to before taking the meds
3. get really drowsy and or loopy
4. crash in bed and wake 4 hours later to do it all again

as you can see, it gets old. good thing scooter came down last night and made things all better. sorry for falling asleep on you, sweets. you are still the best.

oh. and i think i found my own personal weirdness associated with taking lortab. normal noises like my phone, the kitchen timer, and the clock on the wall are higher pitched. and sometimes it feels like i'm having a conversation with someone, but it was all in my head. quite puzzling.

finally the post everyone has been waiting for. drum roll please.... meggie chose her wedding dress! it's very gorgeous and i'm so happy! however, it was nothing like what i originally thought i wanted. my dress was going to be slim, not poofy, 3/4 sleeved, not short, and absolutely no tucks. isn't this a beautiful contradiction? i'm so excited to wear this in a few months :)

we also put the down-payment on the reception venue at the ogden union station today. it's gonna be amazingly awesome.

actually the bridesmaids' dresses are black. hah. meggie and mom went and ordered them a few days ago. they will be just stunning! pair meggie's idea with mom's incredible sewing talent and you get some pretty spiced up and colorful additions. We're adding colored sashes in the wedding colors (burnt orange and dark red) and i might get creative and string some pretty jewelry. so exciting!

so in order to get exactly what we want (and to save some money), i've decided to make my own invitations. it actually hasn't been bad so far. i painted the mum design on my canvas and will just somehow scan it into a publishing program to print on cool paper with words. no big deal, right? wish me luck!

we are officially engaged. yippee! scooter had always wanted to propose on a mountain top. so to snowbasin we went. however, due to the gondola being closed, he settled on a closer venue behind weber state. it was so gorgeous watching the sun go down over weber county and then spying something sparkly on the ledge of the rock we were sitting on. what a sneaky boy. so that's how meggie got a rock on a rock on friday, july 10.
